My husbands family and I absolutely love coming here for breakfast or lunch …. Oscar and his family are the owners and they are some of the most amazing people we’ve ever met…. Hands down 5 stars!! On my opinion they serve the best Menudo in town. Ask for extra hominy and they won’t disappoint. Staff is friendly always service with a smile. You may catch a well known singer enjoying a meal from time to time. You’ll find his photos on the wall as proof. Music usually playing but not loud enough you can’t carry a conversation. Area is sketchy but don’t feel unsure I’ve never had any trouble in this area. If you’ve never been make sure to write your name down for a booth or table as you enter and wait to be seated. You won’t wait too long.

Arizona Cafe has been a staple in Bakersfield for decades. Fresh, hot, good authentic Mexican food at a very reasonable price.
I’ve been here several times over the years, their food has always been consistently great.
I came in for breakfast, after I ordered my meal of chorizo con huevos it was served to me in five minutes, outstanding job, it was delicious.

Good, be ready to wait in busy hours and not parking. Area is not great bunch of homeless and drunk people.

I always wanted to come here because I have heard many great things about this place. Unfortunately that was not our experience. I ordered Huevos Rancheros with Chile Verde. The chile verde was watered down. The few pieces of meat I got was mainly bones and bone cartilage. The rice was dry and had no flavor. We also ordered the Chilaquiles with meat and the meat was extremely greasy and tasteless. The area where the restaurant is located is rough. There is homeless walking around and sleeping on the sidewalks near the restaurant. The only place we saw to park our car was on the street in front of the restaurant. I am not sure if we will return to give this place another chance. We really wanted this place to work out and be our new go to place for Mexican food. Maybe we caught them on a bad day? Hopefully that was the case because I do hear and read nothing but good things about this restaurant. If we do come back and try it again and our experience is great. I will make sure to come back and change/update my review.

I’m a huge fan of the chile rellenos from Arizona Cafe. My server was very attentive, the food excellent, and I enjoyed sitting at the bar. The place was quite packed when I was leaving. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

I should have gone with my instinct and stayed away from the chilaquiles...the guisado and Chile Verde is good though (from what I've heard). I should have stuck to that as that was why I went in the first place.

I genuinely enjoyed Arizona Cafe. It is the closest to homestyle Mexican food that I have found at a Mexican restaurant thus far.
Of course there is always something about a dish(es) that isn't quite what you are used to but that is true of all Mexican dishes depending on the region(s) it originates from or is influenced by. One dish could be vastly different in two different states/ regions. Appreciate the dishes origins and enjoy!

Hands down, the best Mexican food I've ever had in my entire life. Super friendly, family vibe, cool atmosphere, and the best Mexican food you can have in Bakersfield. Come and have your mind blown. You will not regret it!
