Schat's Bakery & Cafe

Stopped in here for lunch on my way through Ukiah and it was every bit as good as I had hoped it would be. I picked up a selection of treats, and yet there was still so much to try that I'll just have to plan another trip in order to sample them all. Not sure if it's the same Schat's bakery as found in other places around the state, but regardless it's just as good! Overall Schat's bakery has amazing food and very fine atmosphere; with lots of large windows to let in ample natural light, and the interior is homey and welcoming. There is a large amount of seating, most indoors, but plenty outside as well.

Order online cause anything other than baked goods takes FOREVER. Having said that, I never had anything from here that wasn’t absolutely delicious. Can’t go wrong with anything, try it all. I especially love that they offer local products as well (the balsamic vinegar is the best I’ve ever had). Support your local restaurants, they are truly one of a kind gems that can’t be replicated!

Desert after a nice long day with the family. Variety is without a doubt something the definitely are not lacking in. You can find something sweet and savory here. Stop by and see for yourself I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Can't believe I didn't know that Shats was in Ukiah. I've been to the Shats in Bishop, CA many times. These guys have great sandwiches and killer pastries, cakes and pies! The cookies are pretty sweet as well... Highly recommended!

This place is the bomb!! Amazing food and friendly service. The desserts are beautiful. The baguettes are the greatest, with ham and Swiss ranking up top. And brekkie rules. My favorite for sure. You'll love this place.

What an excellent find for good breakfast, pastries and coffee delights. The scrambles are very good, just be mindful of the portion sizes, they are large and plentiful.
The coffee options are very good espresso selections. Their cookies are all excellent.

We ordered a pastrami sandwich and the meat had a very good aromatic flavor. The pastrami slices were a bit thick. Some people prefer shaved pastrami, but this one tastes good as is.

Next time we’ll need to try more of the lunch menu.

Delicious sourdough bread!! & cupcakes are nice, too.

I'm new to Ukiah. When I asked some friends about good local places to eat, everyone had Schat's on their list. After my first visit I know why. When you walk in the door you're greeted with a smile and a welcome. There's a complete menu to satisfy your hunger no matter what time of day. And the bakery cases are filled with homemade treats. Everything I've tried has been great. All good values for a fair price. Schat's is one of my all-time favorite bakeries.

the first time i visited here the cashier was rude taking my order, poor customer service. the food was great so i decided to give this place a second chance. today another cashier gave me the same poor experience and handed me my coffee with the cup and sleeve so dirty. i asked for a new sleeve and he didn’t apologize or anything.
the workers here make me never want to come back because of their hostility.

Local favorite… clearly the locals have bad taste. Got a cheese less and salt less veggie burrito, waited probably 20 mins for it when they weren’t even that busy… less than satisfactory chocolate chip cookie… maybe something has changed about the place recently? Did not enjoy any part of the experience.
