Tabl Cafe at TACAW

Performance venues these days seem to have a restaurant for noshing before a performance. The new Arts Campus at Willits just opened its offering called Tabl.
TACAW partnered with Epicure to add culinary arts to the programming mix. The place is proud to announce that it has an all-electric, sustainably-powered kitchen.
I enjoyed one of the most unusual and divine salads the day I showed up for lunch in the middle of a snow storm. (I own a loft a block away.) I paid $14 for a spring berry salad. A wild melange of fresh berries mixed it up with greens I have never seen before. (Tabl showcases Colorado ingredients). It was dusted with shaved pistachios. Its neighbor on the plate was a pile of snow white citrus-herb ricotta that you could scoop up with the crunchy lavache. A great meal!
The menu is limited as they are just getting started.
The dining room has a wall of windows to look out on the houses and park just outside. I can imagine it on a glorious sunny Colorado day. But even in the gloom of a snow storm, the dining room had a cherry, festive air.
The restaurateurs took pains with the little things. Like the fresh yellow daisy on the table. Like the organic Kambucha offering. Like the carefully curated wine and beer choices.
There are table with umbrellas on both the north and east sides of the building. I'm going to eat outside this summer.
There's plenty of parking since this is a performance venue. And it's one-story, easy access for the handicapped.
Currently Tabl is open for lunch Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Friday and Saturday there are happy hour drink specials followed by tapas for dinner.
The grammar goddess in me hates the name but I loved everything else about the place!
