Small town atmosphere. True farm cooking and friendly patrons.
Open early and closes after lunch. The Sunday crowd is always large for the popular fried chicken meals.

My husband and I moved to Brocton, IL, a few months ago from North Dakota. (He is originally from Paris and was stationed in Minot.)
I come from a small farming community called Hampden, ND (the population is probably about 25 people right now - if you ever get the chance, get the Prime Rib at the Hampden Bar - The best rib you will ever have!!) So - I understand the dynamics of small towns, I LOVE small-town living, and I want to support small-town local businesses!!!
Today, I went to TPC and had the meatloaf sandwich and homemade onion rings. The server was attentive and explained that the meatloaf sandwich came with spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese. So, I opted to have it plain. It was average (a bit dry) but had a nice flavor. The onion rings were yummy. βΊ
At the end of my meal, I went to the register to pay. The server told me they only accept cash or checks, but there was an ATM in the back. I went back to grab some money, and it declined my card twice. I went outside and called my bank, and they said it must be an issue on the restaurant's end because, on their end, the attempted transactions didn't even show up.
I went back in and tried the machine again - declined -
SMDH - Then, one of the patrons said, sometimes it doesn't work if someone tries to call π³π³π³. So, the ATM is dial-up AND not on a separate line...
So, I leave my number, run to Paris and get gas a Casey's, use their ATM with no issue, and run a few short errands.
Drive back to Hume, pay my bill, and head back to Brocton. π€£π€£.
Again, I grew up in a small rural community. I understand, but... At least mention that you only take cash or checks on google, so people don't have to have the same experience I do or invest some $$$ in a POS system or the POS "square" - I think it might be $50.00 π
The server was 5 out of 5; food was 3.5 out of 5; first-time experience 1οΈβ£ out of 5.
I'll return WITH cash next time and leave a review again.

LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!! Small Town Big heart and a community that is close and it shows this when you walk thru that door and you see folks of all ages gathered together at a long table coffee cups in hand chatting it up and joined laughter and smiles. I look over and I'm greeted with a wave and smile from the town mayor/mechanic/police officer/restaurant owner/friend. I know some will read this and think of Mayberry or something as such because of the titles one man can hold but it is so much more than just a hick town in the middle of fields. this diner/restaurant is a must go to place in the town of Hume that continues to carry on with having good times and making memories and caring for others all while this harsh world continues to spread hate and hardships. so if you need a full belly of great food, a feeling of the good ole days with less stress, and want to talk with strangers as a friend then this is the place to go!!!!! great service, great food, car/mechanic themed with an old 50s diner type of decor, very clean, good fair prices, outdoor area to eat and enjoy the nice days, maybe even schedule a tune up for your car and have a good meal while you wait! HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE TWISTED PISTON!!!!

Good food if your a local, my parents live in the area have been here many times, but the last 3 times we are all sitting and a group walks in after and is taken care of without even acknowledging We were in the room will never consider this place as an option for another meal again!!! Shame on local yokel business practices

I've stopped there numerous times while on a bicycle ride and the service has always been excellent and the food very good.
