I loved this place, but the quality of the food has definitely declined since the pandemic. I don't know if it is the staff turnover or something else, but I paid $9 for some sad wilted lettuce and two small scoops of egg salad - they didn't even give me any dressing.
I wish I could say this was an isolated incident, but the last few orders I've gotten here have been the same. This used to be my favorite place to get lunch and work, but I can't justify the price for consistently disappointing food.

We ordered two cold brews and ask for one to be “no room” cuz one of us didn’t want ice. The cashier said “that’s kinda shady but that’s fine”. ??? I thought asking for leaving no room was industry standard. It’s not like we would pour some in the trash and waste it. Bad attitude!

I stopped by this cafe a few weeks ago to grab some morning drink and breakfast. They have a decent choice of beverages, sandwiches and bakery items.
Lots of seating space - they have an extra room sort of space with more seating. I’ve visited here as a student to work on some homework too.
Their creamcheese seemed freshly made and was yum!

Loved the coffee invading my breath as I walked into this welcoming cafe. Unpretentiousness at its best. They were kind enough to brew strong coffee on request. Friendly host. Seating is plenty inside.

Ordered a breve latte and got a coffee with cream ( not anything like a breve latte I’ve ever had anywhere else). Also the breakfast sandwich was tasteless and mostly bagel. The person I was with had a chai latte that tasted like water with chai flavoring.

7-16-22 The service was trash so my drink didn't matter. My husband liked it but I prefer a smooth, not crunchy coffee drink. We ordered 2 of the same (PB frappe) on a super hot day we were excited to see this on the menu. The barista did not seem thrilled to make them. So she made the drinks of the person behind us even though they took just as long to make.
We even tipped her 20% which turned out to be $3. She didn't even hand us our drinks, didn't say two words to us. Someone else did. People like this ruin tipping for everyone. A tip is not mandatory, people need to remember that. When your service is a zero, that's how much of a tip you should get.
When they handed us our drinks, they were sans whipped cream. When I asked if they come with whipped cream, another employee responded with "not typically" I attached a picture of the sign that says otherwise.
If you don't enjoy making a particular drink that costs $7 then take that up with the owners, don't be rude to the people ordering and overpaying for the drink.
We are big fans of supporting local coffee shops and I can honestly say that in all the different coffee houses i've visited across the country and abroad, this place was the worst with customer service/appreciation that I have ever experienced and just overall gloomy feeling. Two thumbs down.

I chaned my review to reflect the service of the people that own this coffee shop. It is apparent that they care very much about their business and its customers.

Spacious environment and outdoor seating, which is located under an awning to partially shield you from the sun. Inside, there are two main rooms to choose from. I really enjoy the variety of tables that range from single to 6+ people. Though this may not bother some people, I'm always struck by how yellow the lighting is. This is great for evenings but off-putting during work hours.
The coffee is great. They have excellent pourovers and daily specials. I happened to go this Wednesday and, yes, they have plenty of milk alternatives. Wednesday is $2 Latte Day and they subbed in coconut milk free of charge.
The staff are welcoming and patient. I've seen them explain the differences in roasts and drink types to people who were unsure. Overall, great space with books, board games, and considerate patrons.

Absolutely love the new look at kopi! The staff is wonderful and I am very happy with everything they are doing for future plans, to continue to allow kopi to shine even brighter!

A great place to study for hours, really nice bagel sandwiches. I love sitting here before an upcoming train ride out of Champaign, it's a stone throw from the Amtrak and Greyhound station.

Stick with the drip coffee or a cup of tea. I hoped my first bad experience was a fluke or due to staffing issues. I got my food order 22 minutes before my coffee. I completely finished my food before my drink was complete. I had to remind the staff that I ordered a drink. (Latte). My second experience I ordered and paid for 3 drinks. First was a London Fog that was was over sweetened with pump sugar and milk was steamed into oblivion and shad separated into a sludge on top. I got back in line and ordered and paid for a new drink with no sweeteners. The milk was also burnt and separated. Way too much milk. I got back in line and paid for a drip coffee. All in I spent 23 minutes standing in line. Save yourself the cash and frustration. Starbucks makes better coffee than this place. The food is pretty good. I won't be coming back to to this Champaign staple. Kopi is a far cry from what it used to be 9 years ago. 11/10 hard pass.
