We stopped in while traveling. Anywhere where it seems that most of the customers are locals is where I want to be. The food was delicious, service was fast and friendly, and the location is very convient.
Will definitely stop in again on the next trip.

The food was not good at all. The hygiene is poor. We witnessed workers killing Flys and serving right after killing them. The food is microwaved (we had seen the microwaves and heard them going off) and is just below par all the way around. The place just feels dirty when you walk in and then to witness all this made us never want to come back.

Best country fried steak breakfast I've ever had!

Dirty table, slow service. Waitresses seem to spend more time talking with the locals instead of filling coffee cups. My toast was only toasted on one side the other side was not toasted at all. Brought me sausage patties instead of bacon like I ordered. Maybe the waitresses should spend more time reading their ticket before they bring the food out.

Good home cooking. Friendly waitresses. Clean restaurant. Clean bathrooms.

Wide assortment of choices, but some of the food is frozen, which I personally don't care for such as tenderloin, pie. When I worked here in the 70's everything was homemade and delicious. I still go here with a friend who loves their CB and mushrooms. I love their breakfast.

Midwest comfort food. Although I am a local I hadn't eaten here in a while. But this morning had the occasion to meet family for breakfast. Three of us enjoyed the Mexican omelette with bottomless coffee for $30. If you leave hungry it's your own fault. Good service and good farmer friendly food. (no hipster stuff here)
One reason for the long delay in returning was the terrible bathroom. But they remodeled and the place is much brighter and bathrooms are cleaner now. We will be back soon!

It's been a while since I've visited 54. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the decor has been updated to a bright and pleasant atmosphere. Gone are the tar stained... everything of yesteryear.
And yet, despite the atmosphere update, I still recieved excellent service and the greasy spoon breakfast that I was craving.
I am very pleased and will be going back.

I had not been here in a long time, went for breakfast one day with my husband. Wow, new remodeled. Looks great! The food was real good made to order. Waitress was great as well. Always made sure we had coffee and tea. Lots of food. Great prices and a daily special.

Yummy food, fast service and friendly staff. Definitely the place to go if you want a food coma.
