I used to come here constantly when it was Star coffee, it was fantastic and I loved it, they had amazing vibes and it was home-y and warm and amazing, lots of selection and there was so much to do, and look at, such as their bookshelves of boardgames, and quirky community notebooks that people could draw/write in whatever they wanted, a highlight of my experience going there was definitely flipping through the well-worn pages and getting a peek into other people's lives, that's what it was like going to Star, intimate, fun, and interesting.
Now that it's Lampost I have never been more disappointed, it's bleak and sterile, the vibes there are now hostile and boring, it's as if they went on one trip to Kohls for decor and only used Kohls cash to buy everything. The walls are 70 shades of monotone grey, and there's absolutely no life at all.
They have about 7 syrups, whereas Star coffee had so many options and variety when it came to everything. The entire shop seems like a hospital waiting room, I was utterly disappointed when I first walked in, I would spend my own time and money decorating the place for the sake of the atmosphere that they've destroyed.
I'm glad that the owner of Star retired for himself, but I'm so sad that this is what has become to a place that was once an absolute GEM of a coffee shop, might I say a landmark of Round Rock. Now it's as if some California coffee shop came to Austin and failed, and then migrated to Round Rock to suck away at the locals happiness.
Their lattes are ok, but if you want a local coffee shop experience, go to Cafe Java instead.
EDIT: They're definitely trying, all of the employees are godsends and fantastic, the coffee is basic but good/cheap, the owner is awful enough to cause a walk out of employees but besides that, they're definitely a coffeeshop in the downtown area 🤌

I believe a coffee shop should be consistent. This on is not. Sometimes they close early an hour or more. Sometimes they close the kitchen early like today. Not yet 4 pm but we cannot order a sandwich which is half the reason we drove 20 minutes to get here. I do not like coming to places that are continually finding ways to let me down. Please do better.

Great place to meet for coffee with friends or for business. Great mocha. Fantasic old historical building. Wifi needs some work though.

LOVE LAMPPOST. love the environment, love the drinks, i love it all. this location gets a four star because they need to BRING BACK THE BLUEBERRY GOAT CHEESE TOAST!!! otherwise, a 5/5.

Great place to meet people! Decent coffee drinks, great bagels, friendly staff, roomy - you don't feel crowded.

Would rate higher if they would bring back gluten free bread or take them off the menu.

I got the vegan blueberry lemon glaze muffin and a cappuccino. It was delicious!

On a busy Saturday, during an event in downtown, they seriously only had 1 person working. How cheap is the owner??? It took over 20 mins to receive our drinks. The poor batista couldn't make them and take orders at the same time.

Cherry & chocolatey. Wouldnt go out of my way to go here but it was definitely better than expected and a pretty decent choice for the area. Wasn't anything spectacular. Steaming and pouring technique a little lacking but the you can definitely expect decent coffee/espresso.
