I was at Grounds just last Saturday, 29th February 2020. I am partly local since I own a house on Main Street. When in town, I dine at Grounds either for lunch or dinner. There’d been numerous times when I felt the service towards me had some prejudice, but I never said anything. I continue to patronise the restaurant because for the most, their food seems consistent. I’m a very forgiving person. But last Saturday’s experience I cannot let go. Except for the bus waitress who was newer employee, everything seemed off! Our waitress was distant, seemed disinterested at serving our table. Why? Because I’m a non-white tourist/diner??? It started with my Caesar Salad order. I asked for anchovies with it. The salad came looking disgusting! Chopped up romaine lettuce, hardly any dressing to it, (my fiend had to ask for dressing because hers was also dry) and no anchovies either. The salad was room temperature! I had to wait to get anyone’s attention on it. Anchovies was brought to me after a while. I ordered Ground’s cheese steak. I exchanged having the side salad for the day’s soup since I already have the “Caesar Salad”. When my sandwich came, I was totally baffled. It is not how they usually serve their cheese steak. (I’d love so bad to post the picture of the sandwich) the bread was cut in total halves, toasted and buttered. The few little pieces of meat was sooooo burnt, they looked like the fat pieces I cut off from my steak when I cook. Even the cheese (jack) was soooo brown!!! The order was a total turn off!
I used to rent my house as a vacation rental on Main Street. Many, many times when am asked for my recommendation where to go for dinner, I’ve always sent them to Grounds. Now for me to be a recipient of this very poor service and food that I would not even give to my dogs is utterly insulting! (By the way, I did not eat the sandwich, took it home with me for picture/documenting)! On my way out, we chit-chatted with the girl out front. We commented ,on the scones looking good. We were offered to try them, it was good so I decided to buy a couple. Instead, the lady insisted for me to have them as courtesy. It was a very nice gesture on her part. I appreciated that. But I’m also perfectly capable to pay for my meals, do not expect any freebie but do expect my due service and reasonable meal. I continue to recommend Grounds, but please let this serve as a reminder to the staff. Any business exists ONLY.because of its patrons. Let not the color of anyone’s skin affect your service because their money is just as good.
PS. Come to find out after our meal, our server was also the manager! REALLY???? And we also observed her talking to others about us from what we could tell from their actions when I brought up to her attention the condition of the sandwich. She needs training. I am NOT a whiny diner. I usually just leave. After this kind of experience, nothing can be done to rectify this. I do not even want to dine with you for fear of staff retaliation.

We had a grear breakfast at Grounds. Food was awesome. Atmosphere beautiful. Clean and open, serene to the eye. SERVICE was outstanding. Can't wait til we visit Murphys to eat there again. Good price for the value. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Decent but overrated. After so many locals had mentioned it (and the alternative Mineral was closed that day) we went there with a lot of anticipation for lunch during our wine tasting walk through Murphys.
It is a decent lunch place with well made and well presented food. The selection of dishes is interesting but not much beyond the standards (slightly redefined in some cases). It is certainly nothing special or particularly inspired. Interior is friendly and modern, service is friendly and efficient but not that caring. For all of that the prices are bit on the high side. Still not a bad place for a quick lunch.

Grounds is a great restaurant. We love their breakfast and have also had very nice lunches and upscale dinners. We regularly drive to Murphy's mainly to eat at Grounds. Highly recommended.

The house made chicken soup was delicious.
The B.L.A.T was amazing. The bacon was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. The avocado was so fresh. I loved the house made mayo. The twice baked potato was also good. Overall I enjoyed everything I ate and would highly recommend.

A pleasant surprise in downtown Murphys. Breakfast and Lunch menu items. The Iced Chai Latte was the perfect treat on a warm mid morning. The place is deceptively small from the street view, but extends back quite far to accommodate many people. There is indoor and outdoor seating available.
