Fairly priced roadside food truck with large parking area and several outdoor picnic tables with umbrellas.
Great food, in small portions at low cost. Very nice staff. Spectacular location, with green fields overlooking the Pacific at high cliffs. Perfect location for food after hiking to Polulu beach.

We enjoyed the farmstead near Pololu Valley. They had fresh fruits and guacamole and the basil lemonade was a hit! There are several tables where you can sit to enjoy the view and your snack.

there’s a bathroom here - make sure you use it if you need to before leaving the area (and send a tip their way if you do). some friendly mules are hanging out, you can say hi while munching on a fresh papaya from the stand. well decorated seating, fresh and affordable fruits. magical.

Good fruits. Unique and delicious baked papaya with cream cheese and macadamia.

Beautiful place to stop for a bathroom break after visiting Pololu Valley Lookout. Sign on the porta-potty says “washroom is for customer use only..” Lots of drink options. Would have been 5-stars except my drink leaked all over my shirt + the car every time I took a sip which became a sticky mess for the 1.5 hr drive to Hilo. Don’t know how they managed to get so much of the the drink on the outside of the cup. It seems like the off-road vendors don’t put much care into their end product anymore. If they knew they were serving ‘local guides’ maybe they would. Whatever.

Fresh fruit & good local options. Sit & watch the clouds over the ocean while eating in the shade. Best place I've been to on big island:)

In some of the most out of the way places you find the best treasures, and Fresh Off the Grid is just that.
After visiting Pololu Valley Lookout last year my husband and I stopped in here for a shave ice and fell in love with the quirky charm.
This year we upped our game and didn't just stop at the lookout, we hiked down into and back up out of Pololu Valley. Let's just say it's not an easy hike, and we we definitely looking forward to a shave ice.
This little place in the middle of nowhere is super popular, a common stop for Pololu visitors. It's set on beautiful grounds, an off the grid food truck that offers a little bit of everything.
We got a save ice and a smoothie, and both were terrific. The shave ice was sweet, but not over sweet/syrupy. The smoothie was sweet, but you could tell it was naturally sweet from the fruit, not from added sugar/sweetener.
The prices out here we're reasonable. Higher than in town, but not by a lot. The view is greta, very relaxing. They even had live music on the grounds which added to the experience.
I recommend this place highly!
