This place is more than just a coffee shop, it’s one of the only places I feel like I can truly be myself publicly in Grand Rapids and feel welcomed. There are so many community resources, the owner makes a point to centralize support and making a safe community space as well as the best and most affordable cup of coffee you can get in the city. I felt really uplifted frequenting here during hard times in my life, and attended many of the social events they host. Before finding their events, I couldn’t find any queer community spaces in the area. Excellent coffee, cozy/peaceful environment, free library, a service industry discount on top of affordable prices, community events… plus they pay baristas $20/hour and put their money where their mouth is as far as valuing their employees, which can’t be said for many businesses in the city. I can easily say this is the best establishment in Grand Rapids and I’m constantly recommending it to folks in West Michigan.

Wonderful, local queer coffee shop. The owner cares deeply about their workers and their customers. Weekly events/groups such as a drawing social and fiber arts group. Free lending library, free pantry, and a kindness cup for anyone struggling. I always feel welcome. This coffee spot feels like a community and it's my favorite place in Grand Rapids. Follow them on Instagram @lotusbrewcoffeedrybar for their secret menu items and updates on events. Love the energy of this place.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Not only is the coffee amazing, the vibe is unmatched. It's so important to intentional with how you spend your money and spending local is so important to me. But to have a place that aligns with your core values is so unique. Ten times over best coffee shop in West Michigan

My only gripe with Lotus is that it's not big enough to hold all my friends. Great tea selection, decent coffee, vegan baked goods, and Max, the owner, is one of the kindest souls I've ever met. This is probably the best place to meet queer people in GR.

This is such a cute, small coffee shop. I got a small pour over, which actually had some really nice fruity notes. I also really love their book collection, it was super fun to browse through with friends!

Great little shop to get a beverage and visit with friends. Nice atmosphere, lots of people were playing games and/or having conversations, so the small shop had a lot of ambient noise, but music was nice and not distracting. Flexible seating (large tables, two tops, and couches) and good lighting. I got an au lait and it was perfect. This is a very queer, very openly affirming 2SLGBTQIA+ space with a good lending library of banned & queer books and a community bulletin board with a lot of queer gatherings. Very family friendly, took my kid and he loved the game library and said the house made chocolate milk was "awesome!"

Stopped in for coffee and tea and was blown away by the café. Such an amazing community resource, incredibly welcoming and well organized. The workers’ discount is a wonderful form of solidarity, and the drinks were phenomenal- we had the chai and matcha lattes with oat milk. I would love to have a café like this closer to where I live, but will definitely return when visiting GR again.

They are so very nice every time I visit, and the drinks are delicious! The banned booke library is awesome, and the a small free food pantry show their commitment to community and service. I love it

The instant I walked through the front door I felt so incredibly welcome and comfortable. The vibes: immaculate. So much to interact with, whether it be the shelves of books or board games anyone can borrow, or the plethora of community posts next to the small food bank table. Coziest and the most delicious hot or cold drinks and the friendliest people behind the counter. It feels like more than just a place to get grab a cup
