It was a 10 min wait to get table waitress halfassed wiped the table down
Waited 40 minutes for our food that wasn’t even 100 degrees cornbeef Benedict. Cornbeef was so dry it was unrea
The other meal was supposed to have in over easy egg that was fried hard requested another over easy egg and it took 15 minutes to get that and that meal was cold as well or not 100°
The hot chocolate like drinking hot skim milk with a little bit of chocolate flavoring
Now the hygiene seems to be the only time any of the staff that I could see wash their hands when they stuck their hands in the sanitize bucket to clean the tables because my waitress seem to constantly digging in her ear and messing with her face she would take dirty plates back and come back out and not wash your hands and still mess with her face and wipe her face that’s really poor hygiene just in general
So if you don’t mind waiting a really long time for mediocre food and poor hygiene staff this is a place for you if not find somewhere else

My husband and I went here hoping that the food was as good as some of the reviews were. Unfortunately, the bad reviews were right. We waited for several minutes before we even saw a waitress. After we saw her, it took several more minutes for her to seat us, even though the place was half empty. After we were seated, it took at least 15-20 minutes before she took our order, then at least half an hour for our food to come out.
My husband got the walleye sandwich and it tasted unbelievably bland. The fries he got were worse than Burger King. I got whatever sandwich had the wild rice bread. The sandwich itself was okay, but it was very greasy, considering it was just a sandwich with lunch meat on it. The chips I got with it were overcooked and CAKED with salt. Neither my husband nor I could eat any chips without wiping the salt off with a napkin.
Honestly we wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt because we thought it was just the one waitress running everything. But we found out that there were two chefs in the kitchen. That being said, I have no idea how a simple sandwich took more than half an hour to make.
All in all, would not recommend. The service was awful, the food was not good or reasonably priced, and my husband and I had stomaches afterwards. Honestly, I would just go to the Culver's down ther road.

We had their egg rancheros. Not good. Guacamole was old, turning brown. They topped it off with old dried up corn kernels.
It would have been nice with chopped tomatoes on top. I had regular coffee and that was bad. Expected better from a restaurant named the Vanilla Bean.
Won’t be back!!

This place is incredible!! We came in after spending a day at Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse. Allie was a gem and let my husband know, that since he was a veteran, his meal would be free. Allow me to say, I would have gladly paid for this meal, two times over. Yes, it was THAT good! We had the walleye cakes (OMG), I had one of their famous oven baked omelettes (The Popeye) and my husband had the North Woods Classic breakfast. Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about this meal, the atmosphere and the service. Oh, and make sure to try the apple cider! Did I mention Allie was awesome?!?! Great discovery and will definitely be back whenever we come back to the Duluth area.

We hadn't been there in years. The food was just as good as the first time we tried it. The staff was small so be nice nice if things are taking longer than you expected.

Was disappointed when we stopped on the way back from vacation. There were three tables open, we had a party of 7. We were fine splitting up into two tables. The man that greeted us was rude, and made it clear that he was fine with us going somewhere else…..so we went to Judy’s down the road and it was great. So go to Judy’s instead!

My wife and I went in on a Sunday morning. Slightly busy. We waited 15-20 min, side note- "waiting area" is small, so it can get a little crowded. The staff is friendly and service is good. The food was okay, a little bland in my opinion. I had the Northwood's classic. The eggs and hashbrowns were cooked perfectly but my pancake was undercooked and still soggy in the middle.

The folks up at Split Rock lighthouse recommended this. The food and service were great! They have a nice menu that offers great options that are not just burgers and fries. We started with the Border Battle deep fried cheese curds. They were very good. Tim had the Iron Ranger Pasty which was filled with carrots, onion, rutabaga, potatoes, ground beef and ground pork with homemade mushroom gravy. I had the Scandanavian Breakfast which is homemade caramel pecan bread pudding dipped in batter, grilled and drizzled with homemade caramel sauce. It was served with fresh fruit and some of the best bacon I have ever had!

The food was fantastic!! The maple latte was amazing, so were the mini donuts and the wild rice burger. Didn’t wait long whatsoever, even though it was really busy. The waitress was ok, but seemed a bit frazzled. I ended up being charged for a coffee I didn’t order- got that taken off my bill after my card was run- but was charged 2 more times (which my waitress didn’t tell me- so $150 total). Finally got it all worked out, but it was a bit frustrating.

Delicious brunch! And we appreciated feeling safe to enjoy the meal as outdoor was available (with a little wait) and servers wore masks. The walleye benedict was amazing and the grand portage omelette with wild rice in it, so unique and very tasty. Swedish pancakes were good and coffee was good (but hot latte was better than the iced!) We would definitely come back here.
