Magical outdoor seating! Booked this restaurant two weeks because of its reputation. It is incredible that the outdoor seating we booked was really chill and cool in a hot Napa afternoon in July. Their backyard is such a magic, although a bee was sometimes bothering us🤣The outdoor seating is certainly recommended! As for the food, we got the herb roasted chicken as the main entree. It was really delicious but not as good when it got cooled down a bit. The food was good but not fancy. If you are looking for something fancy for such a price (> $50), this is not your place.

The fried chicken and corn bread were delicious, both were moist - the chicken was flavorful. The drinks are also very good- bartender was great! Overall staff were friendly, we were seated quickly around 5pm on a Monday night. The place was very busy. Highly recommend the chicken and cornbread. Indoor and outdoor/garden seating available, beautiful ambiance.

A friend recommended this place to us saying they had the best fried chicken. So, we stopped in on a Thursday night & found out they only serve chicken on Fridays & Saturdays for lunch. It's also an add on & not the main dish. We left & came back for lunch on Friday. We opted to sit at a table which meant we had to EACH order whatever the menu was for the day & then we could add the fried chicken to our meal(s). We couldn't share it unless we sat at the bar, then we could order a la carte or share.
Please keep in mind, we are not fancy eaters. We don't drink wine. We're just basic humans that like good tasting food minus the fancy names & ingredients. With that said, we didn't care for the salad at all. The Bouchon Bakery bread with butter was good. The steak with potatoes, which was the main course, was ok. Nothing to rave about in our opinion. The pistachio pudding was ok. Not our favorite thing for dessert. But, the chicken...that buttermilk fried chicken was THEE best we've ever had at a restaurant! Hands down!! It was cooked to perfection. Perfectly moist. Perfectly crunchy. Just perfect. 😋
If we had it to do over again we would've sat at the bar (even though we don't drink) just so we could order a la carte what we really wanted instead of all the other food we didn't really care for AND it would've saved us a lot of money & wasted food.
The service was great although we did wait a really long time between courses. The music went up obnoxiously loud on a few songs, not sure why, but wanted to mention it. My husband ordered a soda, but they only have cans & not fountain sodas. I didn't see one child in the restaurant on Thursday night or at lunch on Friday. Kinda strange. Not sure if they'd make you order a meal just for a child? That could get outrageously expensive.
All in all, I'd go back, sit at the bar & order fried chicken again in a heartbeat. It was delicious!!

The lobster Mac add on is so worth, it was super yummy.

I’ve heard that the portions are big, though felt that this just enough for the 4 (even with add on). Maybe go with a smaller party (2) if you want more portion size.

Be prepared to wait a bit despite making reservations.

Everything else was ok, maybe I expected too much from a Thomas Keller restaurant..

Ad Hoc is a casual fixed price family style restaurant located in Yountville. This is a Michelin Guide Recommended restaurant by Thomas Keller who has earned the most Michelin stars in Napa Valley.

They offer a multi course menu that changes everyday. It's usually not fancy food but it is always good food.

Best fried chicken in town. Left satisfied and can't wait to be back again.

Trust the chef and go for a delicious (and refreshed daily) 3 course menu served family style. If you're lucky, you might be able to add an order of the best fried chicken you can have. All the food we had was well made and tasteful and the service was top notch as well. This is one of Thomas Keller endeavours in Yountville, definitely a worth visiting one.

This review is for Sunday brunch. I would give 3.5 but it doesn't allow half star. Fried chicken is bomb and one of the best I've ever had but everything else was mediocre at best. Not sure I'd come back and pay $45 per person for fried chicken.

Fantastic french farm cuisine. The great thing about this restaurant is it’s a set menu which changes daily. Just sit down and let them know if you want to add to the wonderful set menu.

My darling wife set this up for us to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. She knows I am picky so she did her research and came up with Thomas Keller’s Ad Hoc. We chose to eat outside and it was a beautiful experience made all the better by the incredible people that make up the crew here. They were some of the nicest people who went out of their way to make our dinner memorable, especially our waiter who was a very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable young man!

Ad Hoc has a very nice selection of wines, but also has several handcrafted alcoholic beverages as well as several high quality microbrews.

The menu consist of a four item fixed price drop dinner which is quite filling in and of itself. That said, you can add a few items to it if you are real hungry or just want variety. The menu changes daily. Refer to photos for what we ate for dinner. Forgot to take photo of desert which was some kind of creamy lemony concoct with blueberry sauce and whipped cream that tasted far better than it sounds! We wrapped it up with a cup of coffee fresh from a French press.
