I have gotten really tired of all of the new Austin restaurants that charge big city prices and just do not deliver. But I am a big fan of Suerte and was excited to try their new project, Este. I have to say that this pretty much blew my mind. Between 4 people, we ordered 8 items (server suggested 8-10) and it was honestly too much. The portions are generous, so this was a good thing. We didn't care, because everything we had was spectacular, and it was great to try all the variety. Just sad we couldn't finish it all! Started with Este Ceviche; flavorful and bright. The hongos tacos were so homey; the perfect comfort food. My favorite may have been the shrimp (CAMARONES “EL RICAS”)... spectacular! But it's really hard to choose. Each dish was unique and brought something different to the dinner. Minor critiques are that the interior design was a bit cold and sterile in its design, and the cocktails were pretty good but come with a premium price tag ($15-$16), which was high for what they were IMHO. But the food was so excellent, we left full and happy and will most definitely be back. Congrats on your beautiful new addition to the Austin food scene. We're so lucky to have you!
Everything was so fresh and very delicious. I am often disappointed in ceviche and this was real, authentic full of citrus and delicious Super fresh I can’t say this enough Wey please highly recommend
A level of food quality and service which has become tragically rare in Austin. Emilio and the other members of the este team are really doing something special and I wish them the very best
There's nothing really wrong with the food here but it just didn't really hit for me. Nothing stood out as craveable or something I'd be jonesing to return for. I feel like "upscale Mexican" restaurants serving $20 ceviche (even in Austin!) are a dime-a-dozen these days.
Let us wait 30 minutes in a line they obviously knew they wouldn't be able to service, while watching Este friends cut the line to get the remaining pastries served roughly one per 5 minutes
A tremendously rude way to waste the time of people that want to give you money.
Hopefully no one finds out that this is a poor facsimile of a better and cheaper restaurant
SKIP THIS. I try a ton of restaurants here in Austin. I figured I’d give this a shot since it has the same owners as Suerte. The worst dining experience I’ve ever had in Austin. Food was okay at best but the service was horrific, wait time for food was over an hour, staff was pretentious.
Our reservation was at 530 and taking a party there is non-starter, don’t even bother. They’ll hate you from when you walk in. Both an appetizer and drinks just didn’t even show up, trust me go anywhere else.
If you’re looking to feel like you’re a burden and some underwhelming food that comes out all at different times, shoot your shot.
Este is excellent! The prices are reasonable and the grilled squid is amazing! Highly recommend and I will be back. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures as I was being polite with our company. Next time though!

INcredible menu, service and food. If you love creative scratch made interior mexican seafood + a well curated (and affordable wine list).. eat here.
